ROCHESTER -- William "Bill" E. Masters, age 83, of Rochester, MN joined his beloved wife in heaven on Saturday, December 29, 2018. William Everett Masters was born September 3, 1935 in New Cumberland, West Virginia the eldest child of Lewis and Margaret (Murray) Masters. He joined the Air Force in 1953 where he became an air traffic controller and earned the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He also met his wife, Anastacia R. Salvador, who out-ranked him, and they married on April 14, 1956. They went on to have four daughters: Carol (Matt) Skyhawk of Stewartville, MN, Katherine (Jeff) Kunz of Hayfield, MN, Mary (Greg) Moscho of Rochester, MN and Lorna Vagt of Byron, MN; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Berg, Stacy Mullholland, Steven Heidbrider, Bridget Skyhawk, Kyle Skyhawk, Andrew Moscho, Rita Senne, Cassandra Wachter and Michael Vagt and at least 16 great grandchildren. Bill continued to work for the Federal Aviation Administration after leaving the Air Force and the family moved several times in the Great Lakes Region before he secured the chief's position at the Rochester Flight Service Station. He retired in 1987. He and Ann made their home in Rochester. In addition to his daughters and grandchildren, Bill is also survived by his siblings, Raymond (Estelle) Masters, Benjamin Masters, Mary Fish, Pam Goff and Victoria Masters. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Anastacia, brother, James and sisters, Gail, Linda and infant sister. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 4, 2019 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family.
