William Howard Witte, age 86 of Rochester passed away April 19, 2014 at St. Marys Hospital.He was born on October 7, 1927 in St. Paul, MN the son of Howard & Harriett (Sens) Witte.He served in the United States Navy during World War II.He attended the University of Minnesota, and then went to work for KROC in Rochester.He later worked as an engineer for IBM retiring in 1986.He married Donna Woolley May 29, 1954 and she preceded him in death on April 28, 1998.He was a member of the Shriners, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Moose and Elks lodges, and he was a long time member of Christ United Methodist Church.He enjoyed fishing, bowling and was an avid sports fan following the Vikings and Twins.He always enjoyed telling stories, loved the occasional KaNooper and was an all-around fun and witty great guy whom will be missed.Surviving are his children, Kimberly Witte of Rochester, Bob Witte of Rochester, Cindee Grund (Randy) of Byron, Lois Riess (David) of Blooming Prairie, and Butch Witte of Rochester.7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and 2 sisters Lois and Joyce.A visitation celebrating his life will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday April 23, 2014 at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home.A private family burial of cremains will take place at Acacia Cemetery in St. Paul.Memorials appreciated to either St Jude's Children's Hospital or your local Shriners.
