William Frederick Hostetler, 87, of Rochester, MN passed away on March 23, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus. He was born on September 20, 1936 in Rochester to Lee and Fanny (Twentyman) Hostetler. Bill graduated from High School and entered the United States Navy, serving from 1954-1957. He returned to Rochester and on June 7, 1958, he married Violet Hamm. They had two children, Frederick and Connie. Bill was an engineer for IBM and retired after many years of service.
Bill has always been a caregiver. He took care of his wife during her illness in her later years and opened their home for many relatives that needed some help along the way. He loved to fish, travel, watch the Dow Jones Industrial Average, and go for daily walks with the neighbor.
Bill is survived by his son, Frederick of Rochester and daughter, Connie (Ray) Wiese of Deephaven, MN; two grandchildren, Heather (Matt) and Brooke (Josh); three great grandchildren, Gavin, Paige and James; and one brother, Doug McCarty of Kasson, MN (Linda of Byron, MN). He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Calvary Episcopal Church (111 3rd Ave. SW), Rochester, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester following lunch.
