William C. Mayo

Funeral services for William C. Mayo, 70, of Rochester, MN will be at 11:00am on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Homestead United Methodist Church with the Rev. Becky Jo Thilges officiating. Burial will be in Oronoco Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and also one hour prior to the service at the church.William graduated from Rochester High School. He attended Rochester Junior College for two years in Engineering Technology. He worked for Ken McGee Civil Engineering, Olmsted County Highway Department, then to the MN Highway Department at their St. Paul office in various locations around the Twin Cities for five years then transferring to the Rochester office in 1966. His work at MN Dot was as construction inspector in the summer and as a designer draftsman in the winter and worked as a resident office manager for 11 years. William married Patricia Dolan on August 6, 1966 in Oronoco. William enjoyed fishing, especially for trout and muskie; camping, hiking, cross country skiing, target and trap shooting and horse riding.. He was a Civil War enthusiast and enjoyed collecting artifacts from that era.Survivors include his sister, Marlene (Robert) Auman of Coon Rapids, MN and his brother, Fred (Kathi) Mayo of Winona, MN; his brother-in-laws, Peter Dolan of Oronoco, MN, Mike Dolan of Pine Island, MN and Jim Dolan of Mazeppa, MN.
