William C. Bill Bergstedt passed away comfortably in his sleep on Friday, July 24, 2015, at the Cottagewood Senior Community in Rochester, MN. His wife, Elva, and his son, Jim, were close by. Bill joined Elva at Cottagewood this past march. Bill was a long time resident of Rochester, moving there with Elva after serving in the Marines as Frist Lieutenant in both China and Okinawa in WWII. At that time he started the Bergstedt Paint Company - a paint and wallpaper business- on Fourth Street SW. He later joined Paine, Weber, Jackson & Curtis as a financial consultant and eventually rose to Vice President of Marketing. He and his wife loved to go out dancing with their longtime friends to the great swing band music of their day. On the weekend you could always find Bill at the Rochester Golf & Country Club with his golf buddies playing the sport he excelled at and loved so well. He was proud of his two Country Club Championship wins and his hole in one. To his wife, children and grandchildren he was a constant support, a trusted advisor and a dear, kind and loving presence. To his friends he was a role model for loyalty, honesty, duty and integrity. He is survived by his wife, Elva; brothers, Ken and Tom; sons, Bob and Jim; and daughter, Mary. Bill has four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two more great-grandchildren on the way. In keeping with Bills request, no memorial service is planned. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Bill Bergstedt can be made to the Mayo Clinic Alzheimers Disease Research. Memorials can be made online at https://philanthropy.mayoclinic.org/donate or mailed to Department of Development, Mayo Clinic, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, MN 55905.
