Warren Roy Barnes, 92, of Rochester died Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Cottagewood Senior Communities. Warren was born December 8, 1923 in Preston, MN to Raymond and Anna (Baker) Barnes. He was a Preston High School graduate and then went on to serve in the United States Air Force. Warren married Phyllis McMillen on June 15, 1945 at the Henrytown Lutheran Church in rural Canton, MN. He was a dairy farmer for 20 years in Canton, MN, then moved to St. Paul and worked for International Paper Company for 20 years. Warren retired from International Paper Company then went on to work part time for OHalloran and Murphy Funeral Home in St. Paul, MN for 24 years. Warren and his wife, Phyllis moved to Rochester five years ago into the Gramercy Park. He enjoyed dancing, bowling and spending winters in Arizona. Warren is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis of Rochester; two daughters, Starlet (Donald) Brummer of Rochester, Linda (Robert) Sparrow of Orange, CA; son, Dale W. Barnes of Sebring, FL; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren and three great, great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Marion (Arlyn) Severson of Mesa, AZ, Shirley (Keith) Krogsted of Preston, MN, Marge (Terry) Tinan of Colorado Springs, CO. Warren was proceeded in death by his parents; brother, Norman Barnes and sister, Olive Mae Means. A funeral service will be held 11:00AMWednesday, February 24, 2016 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #92 of Rochester. Burial will be held later that afternoon at Henrytown Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Canton. Memorials may be directed to Henrytown Lutheran Church rebuilding fund.
