ROCHESTER, MN: Walter Richardson Vogt, 95, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Samaritan Bethany. Walter was born November 30, 1917 in Valley County, Montana to Albert and Helen (Richardson) Vogt. On September 22, 1940 in Potsdam, MN, he married Marie Gusa. Early in their marriage, Walter and Marie worked on several farms in the surrounding area. Walter loved the country, old tractors, the planting of crops and enjoyed the beautiful changes that each season brought.He was proud of his childhood Montana roots. Walter worked with Fuller Brush for 7 years and was the operating engineer with the Rochester School District for 20 years. He also owned Walt's Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning for numerous years.He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and a member of the Eagles. Walter was an avid walker, enjoyed woodworking, playing cards and traveling. He was a kind, patient man with a great sense of humor. Walter is survived by his children, Wayne (Kathryn) Vogt of Rochester, Bonnie (John) Rebartchek of Oak Grove, MN, Robert (Paula) Vogt of Rochester; daughter-in-law, Diana Vogt of Rochester; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great, great-grandchildren; sister, Carol Dour and sister-in-law, Maxine Vogt. Walter was preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 73 years, Marie; his son, Jerry; parents; 3 sisters, 2 brothers, and an infant son. A funeral service will be held11:00am Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church 1212 12th Ave. NW, Rochester. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until time of service at the church. The Rev. Karna Hagen will be officiating with interment at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
