Wallace A. Berglund, Jr.

Wallace Arthur Berglund Jr. was born Dec. 29, 1925 in Freeport, Illinois.He grew up on a farm near Pecatonica, Illinois. He served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theater from 1943-1946.He attended the University of Illinois where he graduated with a BS in EE in 1950.He was employed by IBM in 1950 in the Rockford, Illinois Branch Office, and moved to Rochester in 1963.He retired from IBM there in 1986.In 1969 the family moved to Byron, MN and returned to Rochester in 1988. He married Loretta Joyce Kaesiebier on April 8, 1951 in Emden , Illinois. He enjoyed music, having been active in church choirs, the Oudal Chorale, and the SoutheastMinnesota Winds, a community band of Kasson, MN.He also served in the Civil Air Patrol and was a member of a Rochester classic car club. He is survived by three sons;John (Rhonda), Wellington, OH; Lawrence (Sara), Rochester; and Dale (Katie), Minneapolis;his sister Winifred (Don) Heller, and 7 grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife Loretta and his parents. A visitation will be held Friday at Ranfranz Funeral Home from 5-8pm at5421 Royal Pl NW.The funeral service will be on Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 559 20th St. SW,at 11a.m. with a lunch following. Memorials are suggested to: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and designated for either the Lutheran World Relief (LWR) or the special music fund of the church.
