Vivian D. Widdel

Rochester- Vivian D. Widdel, 91, passed away October11, 2011 at Samaritan Bethany Heights. She was born July 7, 1920 in Fenton, IA to Charles and Kate (Oliver) Voigt. She graduated from Seneca High School. On July 27, 1940 Vivian married Merwin Widdel in Emmetsburg, IA. Vivian worked as a nurse aid at Emmetsburg Hospital until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ringsted, IA and locally had attended Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Vivian enjoyed spending her time doing crafts and reading. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Kolaas of Rochester; sons, Keith (Evelyn) Widdel of Stevens Point, WI and John Widdel of Ringsted, IA; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great, great-grandchildren; sister, Blanche Hutchison; brother, Ralph Voigt and numerous nieces and nephews. Vivian was preceded in death by her loving husband, Merwin; daughter, Linda Kelley; son, Richard Widdel; parents, Charles and Kate Voigt; two sisters, Claudia and Venita, and five brothers, Leslie, Lloyd, Carl, Paul and Kenneth Voigt. Funeral services will be held 10:30AM Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester with Pastor Jean Boese officiating. Visitation will be held 9:30AM until time of service. Interment will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery in Ringsted, IA at 3:00PM Saturday, October 15, 2011.
