Funeral services for Virginia J. Janssen, 94, of Rochester, MN will be at 11:00am on Monday, January 4, 2016 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes.Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Virginia June Sweeney was born on June 16, 1921 in Spring Valley, MN to Rex and Lillian (Hanson) Sweeney.She died on December 29, 2015 at Golden Living East. Virginia graduated from Rochester High School in 1939 and attended Junior College.She worked at US Bank (formerly 1st National) for 36 years, retiring as Executive Secretary of the Bank President.On September 8, 1945 she married John D. Janssen in Rochester.In her younger years, she played violin and was a Girl Scout.She enjoyed traveling, reading, playing tennis, ice skating, biking and home decorating.She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the 381st Bomb Group Memorial Association and the Rochester Business and Professional Women's Organization. Survivors include her son, David J. Janssen and daughter, Julie A. Janssen, both of Rochester, and a sister, Romaine Cappel of Rochester.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters.
