Virginia "Ginny" Stauber

Virginia J. Stauber, 91, died Sunday, October 5, 2014, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN. Ginny was born October 4, 1923, to Edward and Laura (Parks) Sherman in Newport, Kentucky, and graduated from Dayton (Kentucky) High School. On June 27, 1943, she married Christian H. Stauber. Throughout the years Ginny and Chris lived in Northern Kentucky; Sidney, Ohio; Jackson and Grand Rapids, Michigan; and finally moved to Rochester, Minnesota in 1996.While in Sidney, Ginny started the Welcome Wagon program.She held many secretarial positions, eventually becoming secretary/treasurer of Kavis Mask Company in Wyoming, Michigan, which she and her husband founded in 1965. Ginny had many interests and talents.She especially enjoyed gardening, needlework, playing bridge, and was an avid reader.She was a member of the Embroiders Guild of America, Kent Garden Club of Grand Rapids, and P.E.O. Chapter BK in Grand Rapids and Chapter CK in Rochester. Ginny was a long time and very active member of Eastminister Presbyterian Church in Grand Rapids and a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester where she was involved in UMW and served on the History and Records Committee. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Richard Estry of Rochester, MN; granddaughter, Sarah Healy and great-grandsons, Aidan and Liam Healy of Minneapolis, MN; brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Martha Stauber of Ft. Wright, KY; sister-in-law, Jeanette Heileman of Cincinnati, OH; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and sister, Marjorie Sherman. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 10, at 11:00 AM at Christ United Methodist Church with Pastor Nancy Wheeler Handlon officiating.Visitation will be Thursday, October 9 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home.Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester, MN. The family prefers memorials be sent to Christ United Methodist Church, 400 Fifth Avenue SW, Rochester, MN 55902 or Mayo Hospice, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, MN 55905.
