Virginia A. Amundsen ROCHESTER-Virginia A. Amundsen age 98 of Rochester passed away March 23, 2013 in Madonna Towers where she had resided since 2008.Born January 21, 1915 in West Concord, MN the daughter of Dr. Frank & Lillie (Doran) Clifford.Her father was one of the pioneer physicians of this area.She graduated from West Concord High School and then attended the University of Minnesota and Minnesota School of Business.Virginia was employed by Mayo Clinic in 1936 until her retirement in 1973.During her career she was the secretary in the Metabolism Therapy area, working closely day to day assisting diabetic patients, as well as the Committee on Dietetics in the early days typing and circulating copies of diets for the Mayo Clinic Diet Manual.She was a charter member of the Mayo Clinic Women's Club, a long time member of Christ United Methodist Church, and honorary member of the Rochester Music Guild and Mayo Legacy.On October 3, 1937 she married Lloyd S. Amundsen, they resided in Rochester where Mr. Amundsen was the former assistant administrator of the Rochester Methodist Hospital, he preceded her in death June 18, 1998. Surviving her are several nieces and nephews including, Dr. Sheldon Ivers (Marilyn) of Great Falls, MT, Bradly Ivers (Sharon) of White Hall, WI, Dorothy French (Roger) of Maple Grove, MN, Beth Sherman of Portland, OR, Lorraine Thompson of Boise, ID and William Amundsen (Marie) of New York, NY.She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.Graveside services will be held 11 AM Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Grandview Memorial Gardens.Memorials appreciated to Christ United Methodist Church or Mayo Clinic.
