Violet May Hostetler, 83, of Rochester, Minnesota died and was welcomed into God's loving arms on August 21, 2022, at The Homestead in Rochester. Violet was born on October 24, 1938, in Fillmore County, Minnesota to Rudolph and Erna (Barchant) Hamm. Violet moved to Rochester, Minnesota and married Bill Hostetler on June 7, 1958. They had one son, Frederick and one daughter, Connie. She worked various jobs while raising her children and as the children got older, she obtained a job at IBM. She was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church and an avid quilter. She often donated her beautiful quilts to local organizations. When she wasn't quilting, she enjoyed traveling with her husband Bill and fishing trips with her family. She is survived by her husband, William, children, Frederick, and Connie (Ray); brothers, Jerry Hamm of Chatfield, MN, Al Hamm of Orlando, FL, Phil Hamm of Muskego, WI; sisters, Rose Barry of Rochester, Lily Walsh of Plainview, MN and Nancy Steiff of Welcome, MN; two granddaughters Heather and Brooke, and three great grandchildren. Violet was proceeded in death by her parents, and one infant brother, Jimmy. A funeral service for Violet will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022, at 11:00am at Calvary Episcopal Church in Rochester, visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
