Violet L. "Vi" Schultz

ROCHESTER, MINN: Violet L. "Vi" Schultz, 95, formerly of Hutchinson, MN, died Sunday, July 4, 2010 at her home in Rochester. Violet Louise Wall was born November 18, 1914 to Robert and Louise (Lickfett) Wall. Vi graduated from Brownton, MN High School. After completing teachers training, she taught school in a one-room country school for grades one through eight. She married George William Schultz on July 31, 1938 in South Dakota. The couple lived in Hutchinson, MN for sixty-eight years. Vi moved to Rochester, MN in 2007. She enjoyed gardening, plants and flowers. She was a wiz at working crossword puzzles and playing pinochle. Vi is survived by her two daughters, Sherry (Larry) Dufraine, Houston, TX, and Judy (Roger) Poppen, Clear Lake, MN; and one son, Joell "Buzz" (Elaine) Schultz, Winona, MN; three grandchildren, Steve (Bev) Groteboer, Rochester, MN, Julie Poppen, Minneapolis, MN and Mike Poppen, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; her great granddaughter and care giver Kelsey Groteboer, Rochester, MN; her brother, Don (Jan) Wall, New Richmond, WI, and her son in law Mal Johnson, Montrose, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, and her daughter Joann, and her grandson Danny Poppen. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Congregational United Church of Christ in Hutchinson, MN. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church.
