Violet D. Gathje

Cannon Falls- Visitation for Violet Dorine Gathje, 95, who passed away May 2nd, 2010 at Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls, will be from 4:00 PM.-7:00 PM, Wednesday May 5th, at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home. A private family committal service will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville. Violet was born November 20, 1914 in the rural Elgin area to Stephen and Louise (Gusa) Farley. She attended schools in Rochester and graduated from Stewartville High School in 1935. She married Carl J. Gathje on July 10, 1938 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Stewartville. Violet cared deeply for her family, enjoyed gardening and loved to travel. She won several blue ribbons at the State Fair including a Grand Champion for her crocheted tablecloths. Violet is survived by two daughters: Rebecca (Lawrence) Ryan of Cannon Falls, and Gail (John) Johnson of Spirit Lake, Idaho; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Carl, who died June 20, 1996, her parents, two brothers and five sisters.
