Funeral services for Viola M. Tenley, 92 of Rochester, MN will be at 2:00pm on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Peace United Church of Christ. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and also 1 hour prior to the service at the church.Viola Mae White was born on January 15, 1918 in Verndale, MN to Harold and Elsie (Becker) White. She died on July 24, 2010 at Samaritan Bethany Heights in Rochester.Viola moved with her family to the state of Washington for a year. They moved back to Wadena and Crosby, MN before moving to Rochester at the age of 16. Viola graduated from Rochester High School. She worked at Mayowood as a secretary and as a teacher for the Mayo children. She married Chester Tenley on January 2, 1942. She worked for Matske Sewing Center, Singer Sewing Center and worked for the clinical study unit at Mayo Clinic for many years, retiring in 1998. She enjoyed her family, especially holidays and birthdays. She enjoyed spending time on the river, playing bridge, sewing and embroidering.Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Stevens of Rochester, MN; 3 sons, Cary (Cindy) Tenley, Joel (Edi) Tenley and Bob (Nancy) Matthews, all of Rochester, MN; 6 grandchildren, Lisa, Rob, Joe, Jenna, Mike and Lisa, 8 great granchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; 1 sister, Lavonne (Lewie) Seely of St. Peter, MN and 1 brother, Harry (Marcia) White of Crosby, MN and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, 1 sister and a great granddaughter.
