Vincent C. Riccioli, age 85, of Rochester, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at Rochester Rehabilitation Center and Senior Living. Vincent was born on September 29, 1933, in Brooklyn, NY, to Sebastian and Josephine (Piazza) Riccioli. He grew up near the Brooklyn Navy Yards and moved to Bensonhurst neighborhood. He graduated from George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School in 1951. Vincent joined the United States Navy and served during the Korean War. He returned home and received an associate's degree. On December 5, 1959, he married Madeline Marino. He worked briefly as an electrician before starting his career with IBM. In 1956, he was hired by IBM, working as a customer engineer in Manhattan and then in Rochester in 1974 until his retirement in 1994. Vincent was always busy. He liked shopping especially at Menards and fixing things around the house. Vincent loved his cats. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden. For a short period of time he coached with the Rochester Youth Baseball Association. He was in a bowling league with his IBM colleagues. Vincent was a longtime member of Civitan in Rochester (where he served as a president for two years), Christmas Anonymous and St. Pius X Catholic Church. He was a past member of St. Bernadette's Shrine Parish in Brooklyn and later at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Brooklyn. Vincent is survived by his wife, Madeline of Rochester; daughter, Patricia Riccioli of Rochester; son, James (Rene) Riccioli of Waukesha, WI; granddaughter, Cassie (Greg) Wilcox of Madison, WI; two great-grandchildren and two nephews. Vincent is preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Riccioli and sister, Tina LaGaipa. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1315 12th Avenue NW, with Father Russell Scepaniak presiding. The visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2019, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
