Vernon H. Rucker

ORONOCO -Vernon H. Rucker, 95, died on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester. Vernon was born in Oronoco on September 2, 1917 to Edward and Ida (Glabe) Rucker.He married Marie Alberts on June 6, 1958 in Oronoco.Vernon was involved with crop and dairy farming most of his life.He owned and operated Rucker Chemical Co. He also trucked corn for Seneca Foods and sold farm equipment.Vernon was a former member of the Rochester Dairy Board and the Olmsted County Hospital Board.He enjoyed restoring tractors and pickup trucks, being around people, and just keeping busy in general.His greatest love and joy in life was for his family. Vernon is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marie; three children, Karen Rucker, of Rochester, Kathleen (Lance) Schaefer, of Dixon, IL, and Kraig (Kathleen) Rucker, of Oronoco; five grandchildren, Alyssa, Anna, and Abbey Schaefer, of Dixon, IL and Grace and Matthew Rucker, of Oronoco; and many nieces and nephews. Vernon is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Merrill. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Autumn Ridge Church Timothy Chapel.Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and an hour prior to the service at the church.Interment will take place at Oronoco Cemetery.
