Verne D. Red Bennett, 85, died Thursday, March 13, 2014 at St. Marys Hospital. Verne D. Bennett Jr. was born August 2, 1928 to Verne D. Sr. and Flossie (Bryant) Bennett in Topeka, KS. Red served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and Korean War. He married Frances Brewer on March 19, 1949 in Topeka, KS and they were later divorced. Red moved to Rochester in 1975 and was a truck driver for a private contractor who delivered mail for the Post Office. He retired in 1990. Red married Connie Dudgeon on August 28, 1983 in Stewartville, MN. Red enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and building and flying model airplanes. Red is survived by his children, Mark Bennett, Rochester, MN, Linda (Glenn) Rausch, Rochester, MN, and Jeri (JR) Martin, Mount Pleasant, SC, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Connie, a brother Thomas Bennett, and a sister Betty Seguilquist. Private family services are planned for a later date.
