ROCHESTER: Vernard S. Lovhaug, 96, of Rochester, MN. died Thursday, May 21, 2015 atSamaritan Bethany Home on Eigth in Rochester. Vernard Selmer Lovhaug was born December 7, 1918 to Selmer and Mae (Pack) Lovhaug in Flasher, North Dakota.Vernard served in the U.S. Army in the 4th and 16th Armored Division, during W.W. II receiving a Purple Heart award.On April 28, 1940, he married DonaBell Hadrath in Montevideo, MN.They were married for 74 years. He was a fireman for Milwaukee Railroad and then farmed from 1949 to 1956. Vern was active in the floor covering business in Rochester for many years. For thirteen years he worked as a supervisor for Mayo Clinic Foundation House.He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, traveling, and spending time with his family. Vernard is survived by two sons, Tom (Harriet) Lovhaug of Rochester, MN., and Steve (Suzanne) Lovhaug of Rochester, MN; one daughter, Deb (G.W.) Stevens of Racine, MN.; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and three sisters, Maxine Elling of Black River Falls, WI, Velma (Vern) Olson of Granite Falls, MN, and Janice (Russ) Smit of Placerville, CA.He was preceded in death by his wife, DonaBell in 2014, one brother, one sister, one great-granddaughter, and his parents. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Autumn Ridge Church 3611 Salem Road SW Rochester, MN in the Timothy Chapel.Visitation will be Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes 5421 Royal Place NW Rochester and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo, MN. on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
