Vern Richard Meister

ROCHESTER, MINN:Vern R. Meister, 79,died Friday, March 14, 2014 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Vern Richard Meister was born June 6, 1934 to Ernest and Lilla (Troge) Meister in Osage, IA. Vern graduated from Adams High School, Adams, MN in 1952. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Vern married Gail Kittelson on September 27, 1953 at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church in Austin, MN. Vern worked for Thill Implement in Rose Creek, MN for twenty five years and then owned and operated Meister Implement in Pine Island, MN until 1985. He later worked for Racine Implement, sold real estate and insurance until 2000. Vern also transported many vehicles for several local car dealerships. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, listening to talk radio, travel, and was an avid Twins and Vikings fan. Vern was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Rochester V.F.W. Post 1215, and American Legion Post 92. Vern is survived by his children, Melani Meister, Minnetonka, MN and Darrin (Missy) Meister, Pine Island, MN; three grandchildren, Sam, Max and Maggie; a great grandchild Layne; three brothers, Melvin Meister, Bella Vista, AR, Luther (Ruby) Meister, Austin, MN, and Roy (Gladys) Meister, Bloomington, MN; one sister Daisy Larson, Onalaska, WI and many nieces and nephews. Vern was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gail, three sisters, and five brothers. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church 1212 12th Ave. NW Rochester, MN. with Rev. Karna Hagen officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Little Cedar Cemetery, Adams, MN
