Timothy L. Wagar

Timothy L. Wagar, 65, of Rochester, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Seasons Hospice House. Tim was born November 26, 1950 in Grand Forks, ND to Harvey C. and Jean M. (Wilson) Wagar. He was a 1968 graduate of Fridley High School and a graduate of the University of Minnesota. During his professional career, Tim worked as a soil scientist for The United Nations Agency for International Development where he spent a year in Saudi Arabia developing an irrigation system. Tim worked and retired after 20 years from the University of Minnesota where he was an Area Extension Educator and Associate Professor of Crops and Soil. On February 11, 1984, Tim married Kathy Jo Habeck in St. Anthony Park, MN. Tim had a passion for sailing on Lake Superior. He and Jo built a cabin together, loved traveling and road trips. Tim was a courageous survivor of stage 4 lung cancer and multiple brain injuries. He enjoyed living life and living it well. His beautiful smile touched many hearts. Tim was bold, strong and happy. Tim is survived by his loving wife, Jo; their 13 year old yellow lab Anika; mother, Jean Wagar of New Brighton, MN; brother, Ron (Kathy) Wagar of Edina, MN; sister, Gayle (Greg) Gilreath of Minneapolis, MN; sister-in-law, Kelly (Robert) Raunio of Superior, WI; nephews, Matthew Wagar, Andrew Wagar, Michael Raunio, Andrew (Danielle) Raunio; niece, Gracia Gilreath; great-nephew, Owen Raunio; great-niece, Gabrielle Raunio; aunts, Edie Wagar, Della Wagar, as well as, many dear cousins and friends. Tim was preceded in death by his father, Harvey. A celebration of Tims life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Pastor Luke Swanson will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Paws and Claws Humane Society, Longfellow Elementary Gardens or Seasons Hospice House.
