Thomas A. Tom Winkels, age 66, of Dodge Center, MN, died on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Seasons Hospice in Rochester, MN. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2016, at Lydia Zion United Methodist Church, 1026 E 205th St. Jordan, MN 55352, with Reverend Larry G. Kasten officiating. The visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home in Rochester, MN.and one hour prior to the service at the church. The burial will be in Concord Hill Cemetery in Lydia, MN. Thomas Anthony Winkels was born on December 10, 1949, in Albert Lea, MN, to Vernon and Jean (Kasper) Winkels. He graduated from Our Lady of the Ozarks in Carthage, MO, and graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Business in 1971. Tom served and was captain in the United States Army Combat Engineers. On January 9, 1971, he married Myrlane Haferman in Jordan, MN. Tom worked in the banking business for many years and worked for Northwest Bank in Minneapolis, MN, 1st National Bank in La Crosse, WI, and Norwest Bank in Dodge Center. In 1980, he went to work for McNeilus Trucks in Dodge Center until he returned to the banking business and worked for Sterling State Bank as chief operations officer in Rochester. Tom enjoyed gardening, hunting, reading books and coin collecting. Tom is survived by his wife, Myrlane of Dodge Center; daughter, Sara Winkels of Dodge Center; sons, Christopher (Julie) of New Market and Timothy (Courtney) of Dodge Center; five grandchildren, Johnathan, Nicholas, Andrew, Thomas and Jacob; mother, Jean Winkels of Apple Valley, MN; sister, Mary (Al) Boyum of Florida; brothers, Jim (Chris) Winkels of Darlington, WI and Peter Winkels of Bursnville, MN. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Vernon and infant sister, Ann.
