Thomas Baker

November 12, 1957 — April 6, 2024

Thomas E. Baker, age 66 of Sargeant, MN transitioned to Glory on April 6, 2024 and is with Jesus His Lord and Savior.

Thomas was born on November 12, 1957 in Pickens, SC to Leonard and Minnie Jane (Brown) Baker. He lived and grew up in Pickens and attended Pickens High School. After High School, he attended Greenville Technical College and obtained a 2-year degree in accounting, which he worked at for 7 years. Then changing professions, he went to Oklahoma City for Air Traffic Control Education, then worked for 28 years starting in Miami, FL; then moving to Atlanta, GA; then on to Denver, CO; and ended his last position in Farmington, MN. He took early retirement when diagnosed with Fabry Disease, a rare lysosomal storage disorder. Thomas was involved with research to help find a better Enzyme replacement therapy for himself and others in the Fabry community. After retirement, he worked part-time as a shuttle driver for Rochester Toyota.

He was a devoted husband to his wife Cara and step-father to Cara's six children. He loved life and ministered to men helping facilitate the Men's Bible Study every Tuesday at Rochester Assembly of God, Rochester, MN.

He loved music and in his younger years he traveled and made an album playing the bass guitar for the Grady Ashe Family Gospel Music Band. He traveled to Israel on two separate occasions and chaperoned a youth mission trip to Honduras.

His greatest endeavor was to see souls saved for the Kingdom God and help men realize their full potential once they turned their life over to Jesus Christ as Lord. He loved them dearly and walked beside them through many issues of life.

We want to thank all of the first responders from Hayfield Ambulance service; Dexter Fire Department; Mower County Sheriff's Department, and all of the Doctors, Nurses and other Healthcare teams at Mayo Clinic, and University of Iowa.

We also want to thank everyone at Rochester Assembly of God and other fellowships who reached out to pray for us during this time.

Thomas is preceded in death by his mother Minnie Jane Baker.

He is survived by his wife, Cara; his father Leonard Baker; Sister's: Susan (Steve) Holloway; Beth (Larry) Weisner; a brother Sam (Linda) Baker; a niece Lindsay (Tom) Kelly and their son Batson; a niece Laura Baker; an adopted son Jakim Baker from a previous marriage and six- step children Hannah, Isaac, Elizabeth, Elijah, Lydia and Esther Miller.
