Ted Michael Torgrimson, age 44 of Rochester, MN passed on Thursday, October 10, 2019 in Welch, MN. Ted was born on April 7, 1975 in Rochester, the son of Mark and Susan (Severson) Torgrimson. He spent the early days of his life growing up on a hobby farm exploring wide open spaces, spending hours watching clouds drift overhead, figuring out how the lives of bugs and animals worked, building forts, and riding his bike. He spent the later days earning the nickname "Grateful Ted" as he had an unparalleled love for music, especially the Grateful Dead, was known to wear exclusively tie-dyes, and loved to adventure by touring across the US to see live shows. Ted was fascinated by thunderstorms, animals, and water. His love for nature was matched by his love for friends, family, and telling bad jokes. He was affectionately known as "Uncle Ted" by his nieces and nephew who knew no other adult with such an appetite for play. Our loving, exuberant, and creative Ted -and the life he wanted to live- was shadowed by the struggle of addiction. On Thursday morning, Ted lost his longtime battle with addiction. As you wander through quiet places in the outdoors, think of him and the love he had for every natural space. And if you happen upon the Pacific Northwest, he helped build part of the legacy Boundary trail that runs between Mount St. Helens and Mount Adams and he would be thrilled if you saw the awe inspiring beauty of it all. Thanks to each and every one of you who provided him friendship and love, relationships, laughter and joy, you were his heart and soul. He is free now. Ted will be missed by his mother, Susan Torgrimson; sisters, Jennifer Torgrimson, Britta (Ryan) Ojerio Torgrimson, Erika (Steve) Rosin; nieces, Ariel Torgrimson, Lolani Ojerio, and nephew, Kai Ojerio. He was preceeded in death by his father, Mark Torgrimson; grandparents Lloyd and Beulah Torgrimson, and Verner and Lorraine Severson.
