Suzanne Turlington

Suzanne McFarland Turlington passed away on October 19, 2017 in Rochester, Minnesota at the age of 86. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 19 at 11:00 at the First Presbyterian Church in Rochester. Suzanne was born on August 27, 1931 in Rochester, New York. She attended the Emma Willard School in Troy, New York and earned a bachelor's degree from Hood College. After college she worked as a social worker in Baltimore, Maryland. She married Dr. Eastwood Gibbs Turlington in Rochester, NY on August 21, 1954. After spending two years in Panama, they moved to Rochester, Minnesota, where they, in her words, "had a wonderful life". She loved being part of the Rochester community where she worked at the Mayowood Galleries and contributed her time and expertise to many community organizations. She was a generous and caring wife, mother, and grandmother who had a wonderful sense of humor. She had an adventurous spirit and spent many hours planning the annual family vacations. She especially loved spending time with family on Caribou Lake. She had numerous passions including gardening, antiques, traveling and painting. Suzanne is survived by two children, Dr. Bruce Stuart (Marie Boyd) Turlington, Laura McFarland (Stephen) Waldman; and five grandchildren, Robert Turlington, David Turlington, Kevin Turlington. Connor Waldman, and Claire Waldman. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eastwood, and parents Dr. Albert and Elsie (Stark) McFarland. A special thanks to the staff at Cottagewood for the compassion and care they provided during her last several months of life.
