Sum Oum

Sum Oum died on November 3, 2021 at his residence in Stewartville, Minnesota. He was born in Cambodia on July 7, 1947 to Sok Oum and Kao. Sum came to Minnesota with his family in 1983. He was self-employed and was very passionate and active in helping the Asian community. He was known as a driving instructor to many, and played a big part helping immigrants get settled in America. He was a kick boxer before coming to America which started his love for sports. Sum was always "on the go", and was a big socialite, no matter where he went, someone always knew who he was. He loved being around his family, especially his grandkids and great grandchildren. He was deeply loved and will truly be missed. Sum is survived by his sons and daughters, Samuel, Bunsong, Michael, Saroeut, PJ, Saroeung, and Sam. Also by his grandchildren: Chantra, Diane, Christopher, Amy, Brandon, Brittaney, Tiffaney, Brendyn, MJ, Rianna, Jonathan, Angela, Shaun, Sophal, Sopheap, Sumetra, Jediah, Malaya, Artavia, Phillip, Allen, Kyra, Jayden. He also had numerous nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. Sum is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Reth and niece Narin. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes.
