Steven M. Smart

Funeral services for Steven M. Smart, 69, of Rochester, MN will be at 11:00am on Friday, April 1, 2016 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes.Visitation will be from 5:00 7:00pm on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and also one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Steven Michael Smart was born on July 25, 1946 in Rochester to James and Helen (Dornack) Smart. He died on March 24, 2016 at Samaritan Bethany on 8th. Steven graduated from John Marshall High School in 1964 and attended Rochester Junior College.He started working for Mayo Clinic in 1967 and retired in 2010.He worked as an x-ray orderly, Myelogram assistant and later in general service dispatch. Steven enjoyed sports, especially baseball and the history of baseball.He was a member of the Halsey Hall Chapter of SABR(Society for American Baseball Research).He coached youth sports, including hockey, baseball and women's softball and ejoyed bowling, golfing, movies and music. Survivors include his brother, Charles (Valerie) Smart and his sister, Polly (Scott) Zodrow, all of Rochester.He was preceded in death by his parents.
