Stanley J. Brooks

Stanley James Brooks age 95 of Rochester passed away February 22, 2012 at Seasons Hospice.He was born in Oronoco, MN to Evan & Laura (Schrap) Brooks on June 23, 1916.As a young man he took the civil service test and pursued a career with the United States Post Office.He began as a clerk and retired from the Rochester Post Office as a rural mail carrier.He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf.He served the city of Rochester as a former alderman, and was a member of the masonic lodge, and also the National Association of Federal Employee Retirees.He and his wife are also long time members of Christ United Methodist Church.On November 8, 1938 he married Alice McCallum and she survives.Also surviving are his children: Barbara Hexum (Les) of Wayzata, MN and David Brooks (Jill) of Ocala, FL.He was fondly known as Partner to his7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by one brother.A Memorial celebration will be held at Christ United Methodist Church 400 5th Ave SW Rochester, MN on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Nancy Wheeler Handlon officiating.Burial will be in Byron Cemetery.
