Shirley Much

Shirley Mae Much, 93, of Minneapolis, MN, formerly of Rochester, passed away peacefully at the Mount Olivet Home on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Shirley was born July 18, 1928 in Olmsted County to Kazel and Genevieve (Ham) Anderson. A fiercely devoted mother and grandmother, who forged ahead despite great personal adversity, she raised five children primarily as a single mom, survived three different types of cancer, and lived the last years of her life in continuous pain. Shirley passed along her courage, grit, and sense of humor to her entire family. She was a voracious reader and avid sports fan, alternately cheering and jeering her beloved Vikings, Gophers and Timberwolves. Limited in mobility in her final years, Shirley became adept at embroidery and cross stitch to pass the time. She left a legacy of bravery and love to her family. She is survived by her children, Richard (Carole) Schoenrock, Donald (Kathleen) Schoenrock, Michael (Cheryl) Much, Thomas (PJ) Much and Sandra (Jeffrey) Wells; fourteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by a grandchild, one brother and her parents. There will be no public services at this time. Burial will be held at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
