Shirley M. Behnken

ROCHESTER:Shirley M. Behnken, 90, of Rochester, MN died Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Meadow Lakes Senior Living. Shirley was born on May 12, 1925 to Burt and Mary Bailey in Racine, MN. Shirley graduated from Stewartville High School.She worked as a secretary at American Cablevision and at the Mayo Clinic while she raised her three children in Rochester.In October 1974 she married the love of her life Donald Behnken who preceded her in death.Shirley retired from the Mayo Clinic in 1987. Shirley enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley is survived by two sisters, Burdene Jacobson of Prior Lake and Donna Whittaker of Phoenix, AZ; one brother, Rodney (Kathy) Bailey of Menomonie, WI; one son, Bruce (Collene) Shopteau of Minneapolis, MN; and two daughters, Yvonne (Jack) Philo of Rochester and Diane Shopteau of Byron.She is also survived by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. There will be a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church (400 5th Avenue SW).Visitation will be held from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Douglas, MN.
