Shirley M. (Tschumper) Green, 93, passed away January 12, 2018 in Eyota, MN. Shirley was born in Winona April 14, 1924. She was raised in Minnesota City where she attended grades 1 thru 8 in a 2 room school. She attended school in Winona for grades 9th thru 12th, graduating in 1942. She moved to Rochester and lived with her cousin. There she met Gordon. He enlisted in the service in 1942 and Shirley eventually went back to Winona to attend Winona State Teachers College graduating in 1945. She taught school in Emmons, MN before marrying Gordon in 1946 and moving to Minneapolis so Gordon could finish college. At that time she taught in Columbia Heights riding the street car to the end of the line and walking the rest of the way. After Gordon's graduation they moved to Madelia, MN. They have also lived in Austin and Preston, MN before retiring to Rochester, MN with her final years being spent in Eyota, MN. She did some tutoring and worked for Gord at their Pharmacy in Preston. She was quite involved with the church and liked to play bridge. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Shirley is survived by her husband of 71 years, Gordon, one daughter Judy Leopold (Michael), one son David, nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one sister Janice Drazkowski. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Elsie Tschumper and one brother James. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service March 3, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will be March 5, 2018 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery Minneapolis, MN.
