Shirley Berg

Shirley Marie Berg, age 87, of Rochester, MN passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at the Mayo Clinic Methodist Campus in Rochester, MN

Shirley was born on April 2, 1937 to Paul and Thelma (Irish) Swygman. She attended and graduated from Rochester High School in 1955. She married James Berg September 30, 1955 in Rochester, MN. She worked in the Rochester Public School lunch program and worked at the St Mary's campus in the food service for patients. Shirley enjoyed crafting, decorating the house with artwork and paintings, and loved garage sales. She also enjoyed jewelry and loved baking for everyone, such as family and friends. Shirley loved using her Ipad for everything from playing games to researching topics. She would often watch the home shopping channel or Judge Judy, usually at full volume. She was a member at Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester earlier in her life and helped with the day care program there. She absolutely loved going out to lunch with her group of friends. Shirley was known for spoiling her grandkids and grand dogs.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Thelma Swygman; husband, James; nephew, Travers Golden; and grand dogs Chula and Buddy.

She is survived by her children, Colette Diedrich of Rochester, MN and Casey Berg of Rochester, MN; grandchildren, Caitlyn (Chase) Kiefer and Matthew Diedrich; sisters, Norma Bessingpass and Sharon Golden; nieces and nephews, and grand dogs, Grizzley, Dunkin and Saffron; and grand cat, Carlos.

Per Shirley's wishes, no services will be held.
