Shirley Adams

Shirley Adams, age 90, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at her home. The memorial service will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 26, 2017, at Real Life Co-Op, 825 Essex Parkway NW, Rochester with Pastor Jason Bryan-Wegner officiating. The visitation will be a half hour prior to the service with an inurnment in Grandview Memorial Gardens. Shirley Ruth Jensen was born on September 24, 1926, in Exira Township, Aububon County, Iowa, to Jens and Caroline (Stone) Jensen. She graduated from Exira High School and earned her nursing degree from Jennie Edmunson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Council Bluff, IA. Shirley worked at several hospitals throughout her career and retired from the Mayo Clinic St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. After her retirement, she worked at the Rochester Public Library where she fulfilled her passion of reading. Shirley was a member of Zumbro Lutheran Church. Shirley is survived by her children, Jorja Middendorf of Oronoco and James Adams of Rochester; grandchildren, Andrea Middendorf, Maj. Benjamin (Candice) Middendorf, Capt. Kenneth (Miriam) Middendorf, Laura (Nate) Jendersee; step-granddaughter, Caroline Adams; seven great-grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald and Herbert Jensen.
