Sheryl L. Lewis

Sheryl L. Lewis, age 46, of Stewartville, passed away at her parents home on Saturday, August 5, 2017. After a courageous battle with ovarian cancer, she is pain free in her heavenly home. Memorial service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 17, 2017, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Rochester with a visitation one hour prior at the church. A private family burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery. Sheryl Lyn Lewis was born on February 13, 1971, in Rochester, MN to Stewart and Barbara (Zimmerman) Lewis. She graduated from John Marshall High School in 1989. She graduated from Rochester Technical and Community College and then Winona State University with a bachelors degree in nursing. Sheryl continued her education and received her masters degree in nursing in 2014. On March 5, 1994, she married Kevin Capelle and they were later divorced. Sheryl worked at Samaritan Bethany Homes and Hiawatha Homes during her college years. She began her career at the Mayo Clinic St. Marys Campus after graduation and enjoyed working for a number of years as the nurse manager of Joseph 3-B. Sheryl enjoyed the time she spent with her sons. She was very involved with and supportive of all of their activities including school, farming, 4-H, FFA, football, wrestling and golf. She was very proud of all of their accomplishments. She also enjoyed gardening, attending Wild hockey games, playing golf and taking care of her pets. Sheryl is survived by her sons, David Capelle of Rochester and Travis Capelle of Stewartville; parents, Stewart and Barbara of Rochester; twin sister, Michelle (Patrick) McNallan of Chanhassen; niece, Kierra McNallan of Chanhassen and other extended family friends. Sheryl was preceded in death by her grandparents. Memorial gifts are suggested to Mayo Hospice, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or a charity of the donors choice.
