Sheldon Keith Zimmerman

ROCHESTER -Sheldon K. Zimmerman, 80, died on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls. Sheldon was born in Grand Marais, MN on January 10, 1934.He proudly served in the U.S. Army.Sheldon married Karen Shaffer Tollefson on November 1, 1975 in St. Paul.He worked as a machinist for 3M for 15 years.Sheldon enjoyed clock making, crossword puzzles, playing the guitar and harmonica, trips to Iowa, ministering during trips to nursing homes, and he especially loved his grandkids. Sheldon is survived by his wife of 38 years, Karen; four children, Ann Nelson, of Crystal, MN, John (Patti) Zimmerman, of New Milford, CT, Eric (Julie) Zimmerman, of Brooklyn Park, MN, and Josh (Crystal) Zimmerman, of Rochester; 11 grandchildren, Sarah (Steve) Ruddy, of Brooklyn Park, Ashli, Luke, Reese, Riley Zimmerman, of New Milford, CT,Jackson and Matthew Zimmerman, of Brooklyn Park and Shawn, Emma, Liam, Aubrey Zimmerman, of Rochester; one great grandchild, Max;three siblings, Jim (Jan) Paul, of Cloquet, MN, Donna Dube, of Coon Rapids, MN, and Melody Paul, of Duluth, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Sheldon is preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Zimmerman; his grandpa, John Zimmerman; and many uncles and aunts. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Rochester Assembly of God, 4240 18th Ave. NW, with Rev. Jim Filbeck officiating.Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at church.Burial will take place at Fort Snelling at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Angels Care Center.
