Sheila Mary Quimby

Sheila Mary Quimby, 72, died suddenly Thursday October 31, 2019 from a stroke. She was born February 3, 1947 in Rochester, MN to Lynn and Dolly (Eleanor Ewald) Fischer. Sheila graduated from John Marshall High School. She married David Quimby on May 24, 1968. She held many careers in her lifetime including working at the Mayo Clinic as a surgical technician. She left the clinic to be a stay at home and daycare mom, then went back to the Mayo Clinic in the Accounts Receivable department, and finished her working career as a beloved "lunch lady" for Kellogg Middle School. Sheila was a dedicated mother and loved spending time with her family and friends. She was hilarious and would do almost anything to make people laugh. She always put others first and found joy in being support to anyone who needed it. She was referred to by many as their "second mom". She was quite crafty and enjoyed wood-working and sewing. She also loved fishing. She had a big heart and was a wonderful soul. She will be greatly missed. Sheila is survived by her children, Ken (Chris) Quimby of Savage, Kelly (Todd) Dee of Rochester, Joanna Meyer, Dawn Rasmussen, Danny Quimby, and Don Quimby of Bryon; grandchildren, Dawson, Connor, Allison, Hunter, Rob, Todd, Jennifer, Sonja, Shane, Amanda, Amber, Alicia, Heather, Michelle, Nick, Katrina and Crystal; great-grandchildren Mary Jo, Drew, Jocelyn, Shaylie, Kianna, Owen, Ashlyn, Nathan, Allie, Abbie, Isak, Kyla, Tucker, Jaden, Logan, Hazel, Rayah, Landon, Blake, Jaxson, Jaymeson, Brody, and Bailey; great-great grandchild Nevaeh; siblings, John (Joanna) Fischer, Charles (Marlene) Fischer, Sharon Fischer, Sandy Fischer, Richard (Jeannie) Fischer, and Sparky (Ralph) Fischer. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Quimby; her parents, Lynn and Dolly; and brothers Joe Fischer, Jack (Walter) Fischer, and Tom Fischer. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Byron United Methodist Church. Entombment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be Tuesday, November 5, 2019 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
