Sharon Town

Sharon M. Town, 81, of Stewartville, MN, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Stewartville Care Center after ongoing health issues.

Sharon May (Bakken) Town was born September 26, 1941 to parents, Odien and Lorrain (Hetzel) Bakken in Rochester, MN. When Sharon was young, she was at home helping her mother care for her siblings as she was the oldest of twelve children.

Sharon had several hobbies which included reading, dancing, watching TV, and listening to country and western music. She especially loved Elvis Presley and John Wayne and would shake a leg every chance she got. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir in Marion growing up.

Sharon is survived by her children, Cheryl (Fred) Murphy-Long of Rochester, MN and Allen Smith of Duluth, MN; a sister, Marilyn (John) Newell of Rochester, MN; brothers, Steve (Bev) Bakken of Rochester, MN, Dale Bakken of Stewartville, MN, Richard (Jackie) Bakken of Virginia; grandchildren, Ashley, Zachary, Rachel, Kaia, Allen and Bella; great-grandchildren, Rileigh, Mikayla, Cailey, Juliet, Leslie, Kady, Bailey and Jacob her beloved great-grandson. She is preceded in death by her parents; five brothers and two sisters; and three great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes (5421 Royal Pl. NW Rochester, MN 55901). There will be a visitation on Wednesday September 20, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Ranfranz and Vine, as well as one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.
