Sandra E. (Kramer) Whittle was born on December 2, 1939, to A.T. (Tony) and Dorothy (Snyder) Kramer. She passed away August 16, 2016, in Madison, WI at Agrace Hospice, from complications of a brain tumor. She grew up on a farm in Minnesota with her older brother Richard (Dick). After graduating from Welcome High School, she received an education degree from Mankato State College. She taught high school business education in southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa, with the majority of her career in Garnavillo, IA. On April 19, 1969, in Fairmont, MN, she married Marvin V. Whittle. Ultimately, they settled on a dairy farm outside Elkader, IA, where they remained for over 30 years. Each summer she planted a large vegetable garden. After her retirement from teaching, they moved to Rochester, MN. Following Marvins death in 2006, she continued to make her home there until last year. While in Rochester, she remained busy volunteering (St. Marys gift shop, Christ the King Church of Byron, History Center of Olmsted County, and ESC Area Learning Center). She made many new friends, enjoyed attending local concerts and plays, and loved spending time with family. In her spare time, she would tackle crossword puzzles, cross-stitch, knit, make baby blankets, and bake her signature chocolate cake and other treats. She also had a life-long love of travel. Sandy was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, her parents, sisters-in-law Sally Whittle and Loretta Garbina, and brother-in-law Jerry Garbina. She is survived by her three daughters and their families: Sara Whittle and Andrew Elliott of Redmond, WA, Lisa (Derrick) Nix of Eldridge, IA, Peggy (Aaron) Simpson of Verona, WI. Grandchildren: Evan, Amiya, Ashton, Xander Nix and Graham Simpson. Brother: Richard (Judy) Kramer of Casa Grande, AZ. Brothers and sisters-in-law: Walter Whittle, Art and Helen Mueller, Greg and Emily Whittle, Joe and Irene Evans, Lowell Whittle, Dick and Marian Brockman, Francis and Susan Whittle, as well as many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Visitation will take place from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2016 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
