Saleem "Charlie" Charles Magriby, Jr.

Saleem Charlie C. Magriby, Jr., 89, of Rochester, died Monday, April 16, 2012 at Sunrise Cottages in Rochester. Charlie was born June 15, 1922 in Fall River, MA to Saleem C. (Sr.) and Mary (Kalish) Magriby.He served in the US Navy during WWII for nearly seven years and was a member of the P.T. Boats Association.He married Sophie Konieczny on May 14, 1955. Charlie worked for the Franciscan Sisters (Franciscan Missionaries of Mary) in Rhode Island for over 30 years in maintenance. Charlie was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hayfield and a lifetime honorary member of the Knights of Columbus.He enjoyed gardening and religious service. Charlie is survived by a daughter Mary (Henry) Pattridge of Rochester; a niece Judith Haglund of Sarasota, FL; and two sisters, Dorothy Tracey of Palm Desert, CA and Anna Brown of Virginia Beach, VA.He was preceded in death by his wife, Sophie of 44 years; and his parents. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Resurrection Catholic Church, 1600 11th Ave SE, Rochester with the Reverend Shawn Haremza officiating.A visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.Burial will be held in the Gates of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in La Crosse, WI.
