Ruth Lillian Moyer

Ruth L. Moyer, 96, a longtime resident of Rochester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Brookdale of Eden Prairie. Ruth was born June 14, 1925 in Eyota, MN, the daughter of Howard and Lillian (Molke) Bush. She graduated as salutatorian from Eyota High School. She went on to attend and graduate from the Minnesota School of Business. Following graduation, she worked for Northwest Airlines in Minneapolis and Libby's in Rochester. On October 24, 1952, Ruth married George Moyer. Ruth worked as a medical secretary for The Mayo Clinic for over 35 years and retired in 1988. She was a member of Evangel United Methodist Church, where she was active in many women's groups and volunteered for numerous other church activities. Ruth also graced Evangel with her beautiful music as the organist for over 35 years. Ruth enjoyed baking, traveling, crocheting, was an avid reader and loved making personal cards for many through her stenciling and embossing. She was a prayer warrior and a strong woman of faith. Ruth was kind, selfless as she put other first, a great listener and had a loving spirit. Above all, Ruth loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. Ruth is survived by her children, Stephen (Debra) Moyer of Oregon, WI, Suzanne (James) Smith of Eden Prairie, MN; grandchildren, Meghan (Mike) Wells, Erin Moyer, Alyssa (Elliott) Echols, Colin and Ryan Smith, and great-grandchildren, Keller Wells and Graham Echols. Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband, George; grandson, Andrew Smith; her brother and by her parents. A celebration of Ruth's life will be held 11:00AM Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Evangel United Methodist Church, 2645 North Broadway Ave., Rochester, MN 55901.
