ROCHESTER, MINN:Ruth E. Story, 97, of Rochester, died peacefully Saturday, July 14, 2012 at St. Marys Hospital.A memorial service will be held at the Charter House chapel on Friday July 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.A private interment service will be in the First Presbyterian Church columbarium. Ruth Ellen (Sappenfield) Story was born on February 15, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois to Alice (Lanier) and Roscoe Sappenfield.She was their only child.Ruth grew up in Freeport, IL.She was baptized at the age of seven in the Baptist church in Freeport.Ruth graduated from Geneva High School in Illinois. Ruth was accepted at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA where she studied for one year.Ruth then returned to the Midwest to study at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, then Northwestern University where she graduated in 1937.The summer she graduated from college Ruth lived and worked in Chicago where she met Charles Story who was attending the University of Chicago.Ruth and Charles were married on December 23, 1942. During Ruth and Charles' married life they lived in Indianapolis, IN Rockford, IL New Concord, OH, Columbus, OH, Winston-Salem, NC and Jacksonville, FL.In 2000 they moved to Rochester, MN and were members of First Presbyterian Church.Charles died in March 2007.
