Ruth E Wheeler

Ruth E. Wheeler, age 97, of Rochester, died on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Samaritan Bethany on 8th surrounded by her family. A private memorial service will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 205 Pine St, Pepin, WI 54759. The inurnment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Pepin, WI. Ruth Evelyn Jahnke was born on October 10, 1920, in Pepin, WI, to Otto and Emma (Sinjen) Jahnke. She graduated from Pepin High School. Ruth attended college at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. On August 31, 1940, she married Lyle Wheeler. They had ten children. They enjoyed traveling including trips to Europe and Hawaii. Ruth also traveled to Australia and China. Ruth and Lyle wintered in Florida for many years. Playing cards, crossword puzzles and reading especially magazines were all activities she enjoyed. Going to the river and camping was one of her favorites. Ruth is survived by her children, Karen Rostad, Gary (Sharon) Gail (Don) Brennan, Diane (John) Dockerty all of Rochester, Peggy (Gary) Anderson of Zumbrota, Mike (Linnea) of Clearwater, MN, Cindy Wheeler (Gary Griemann) of Hugo and Timm (Cathy) of Rochester, Todd (Karen) of Burnsville; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle who died in 1992; son, Dennis; grandson, Jay Brennan; son-in-law, Lyle Rostad; sister, Carrie Lindquist; and brothers, Arthur, Leonard and Richard Jahnke.
