Ruth Erma Glandorf Pike, 88, of Rochester died February 20, 2016 at Samaritan on Eighth Nursing Home in Rochester, Minnesota. Ruth was born May 15, 1927 in Dubuque, Iowa to Oscar and Erma Kaufmann Glandorf. She attended St. Paul Lutheran School in Dubuque, Iowa where her father was her teacher for her first eight grades. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1945. After completing secretarial school in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Ruth was employed by the York Creamery starting in 1946, and later worked for the Iowa County Farm Bureau in Williamsburg, IA. Ruth moved to Rochester in 1959 and began her career with the accounting department of the Mayo Clinic. Ruth married Ralph Pike of Rochester on October 15, 1966. He survives. Other survivors include daughter-in-law Betty Pike, of Rochester, sons David (Becky) Pike, of Champaign, IL, Wayne (Debra) Pike, of Rochester, Mark (Joyce) Pike, of Rochester, sister Lois Glandorf Brohn, of Flint, MI, and brother David (Becky) Glandorf, of Houston, TX. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews from all sides of her extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Richard Pike. Ruth was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester and was active in teaching Sunday school and womens groups. She enjoyed bowling, reading, and watching the Vikings. She also dedicated many hours of volunteer effort to the Olmsted County Farm Bureau. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 25 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, Rochester, Minnesota. Funeral services will be Friday, February 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 222 6th Avenue SW Rochester, MN, with visitation one hour before the service at the church. The family suggests memorials to the Trinity Lutheran Church Legacy of Faith Fund, Rochester Central Lutheran School or Channel One Food Shelf.
