Ruth Cicelia Gahlon

Ruth C. Gahlon age 106 a longtime resident of Rochester passed away in her home July 26, 2011. Born January 4, 1905 in Alexandria, MN the daughter of Charlie & Augusta (Norman) Lydeen. She married John Erickson and he preceded her in death, she later married Gordon C. Gahlon on December 28, 1937 in Fergus Falls, MN and he preceded her in death on July 23, 1996.They lived most of there married live in Rochester, except during the time Gordon spent stationed in the military in Kansas City and she worked at a bomber plant during that time.She enjoyed fishing, gardening, sewing, and cooking and babysitting for her many grandchildren, great and great great and even great great great grandchildren.She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.She worked several years for Textile Care Services in Rochester before her retirement. Surviving is a daughter: Jeanette Erickson of Rochester, 7 grandchildren: Marilyn Sherman (David), Joyce Erickson, Carol Higgins (Fred), Sharon Minter (Kenneth), Ruth Thompson, Janet Anderson, and Diane Severson (Larry).15 Great Grandchildren, 26 Great Great Grandchildren, and 5 Great Great Great Grandchildren.She was preceded in death by 2 husbands, 1 son: Lloyd E. Erickson, 1 great great grandson, and 15 siblings. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church 2124 Viola Road NE Rochester, MN with burial following in Grandview Memorial Gardens.Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Friday at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
