Ruth C. Suby

Ruth Suby, age 86, of Rochester, died on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at her home. The memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 2124 Viola Rd NE, Rochester MN, 55906. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Our Savior's Lutheran Church Columbarium. A light lunch follows. Ruth Carol Osterhus was born on June 29, 1932, in Janesville, WI, to Halbert and Evelyn (Gunness) Osterhus. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1950 followed by Milwaukee School of Nursing. On December 30, 1955, she married Paul Suby in Janesville, WI. They moved to Rochester in 1970. Ruth worked at the Mayo Clinic as a surgical nurse for 22 years. She enjoyed knitting, quilting and painting, especially with water colors. Ruth was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and taught others how to make lefse and other Norwegian delectables. She was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and Sons of Norway. Ruth is lovingly survived by her sons, Peter (Kerstin) Suby of Rochester, Michael (Susan) Suby of Highlands Ranch, CO and Timothy Suby of Alexandria; eleven adoring grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Janice McFarlan of Janesville, WI; and many devoted nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Paul who died on October 14, 2012; grandson, Stephen; parents; sisters, Joan McGaffin and Gail Gregory.
