Ruth Bernice Meyer

Ruth Bernice Meyer, age 79, passed away on September 4, 2011 at Maple Manor Healthcare & Rehab Center in Rochester, MN.A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 1:30 pm, September 10 at Madonna Meadows of Rochester, MN. Ruth Bernice Williams was born Oct 4, 1931 in Argos, Indiana.She was raised on the family farm and attended high school in Argos.She attended Purdue University and graduated with a degree in Home Economics in 1953.On Sept 23, 1953 she married Richard Albert Meyer. She and her husband lived in several areas of the US: (Indiana, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Kansas, California, Nevada, and Minnesota.) They traveled and enjoyed visiting with relatives across the country. She was active in Womens club and volunteered making cancer dressings. She enjoyed sewing and knitting and was an excellent seamstress. She was supportive of her husbands hobbies and helped make model airplane kits as well as traveled to many model airplane contests. Some of her favorite pastimes involved bird watching, listening to polka music and Lawrence Welk.She loved animals, especially cats.She was the primary caretaker for her husband from 1997 until 2008. She is survived by her husband Richard of 57 years; one son, Ken (Becky) of Rochester; two grandsons , Corey of Minneapolis, Nathan (Megan) of Mazomanie, WI; one great-grandson, Koda; a brother, Carl Williams;and a brother-in-law, Robert Meyer. She most recently lived at Madonna Meadows assisted living and enjoyed the warmth and support of the staff and friends that she met in Rochester. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mabel Williams; brothers George and Cecil; two sister-in laws Cora and Virginia.
