Rudolph "Rudy" Robert Biaggio, age 93, of Rochester, passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2024. He was born on June 26, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, to Peter and Sylvia (Ciprian) Biaggio. After graduating Crane Technical High School in Chicago, he joined his father and uncles in culinary arts serving in many roles and capacities such as cook, chef, caterer, and restaurant owner (Arthur Hotel Dining Room, Black's Pool Hall, Ricardo's Catering). He joined IBM in 1960 where he supervised the food service operations retiring in 1985. Rudy worked concurrently for the Elks Club for 17 years, and he served in the National Guard for 16 years.
Rudy moved to Rochester in 1954 to marry the love of his life, Geraldine Bennett. They were united in marriage on May 1, 1954, at Rochester Methodist Church, and they had three children. They remained faithfully married for 55 years until her passing in 2009. Later, he had a special friend, Maxine Wiech.
Rudy was a dedicated family man with an exceptional work ethic and extraordinary zest for life. During his spare time, Rudy enjoyed woodworking and carving, fishing, playing his trumpet, golfing (two hole-in-one's!), and of course, the joy of good food-especially ice cream!
Nothing meant more to Rudy than the people in his life, and if you didn't know him, it was just a matter of time until you did. Those who met Rudy instantly loved him and counted him as a loyal friend. He had an infectious charm that captivated the hearts of all who met him. Rudy will be dearly missed by all.
He is survived by his loving children, Peter (Connie) Biaggio, Dawn Cairns (Tom Schatti), and Tracy (Mitchell) Moore; grandchildren Antoinette (Peter) Moore, Rudolph A. (Brandi) Biaggio, Christina Biaggio (Josh Vinson), Cody (Jocelyn) Cairns, Nicholas (Hailie) Cairns, Morgan Cairns (Nicole Botero), Paul Moore (Jake Johnson), Molly (Anthony) DeRose, Ryan Moore, Timothy (Faith) Moore, and Andrew Moore; eleven great grandchildren (with the twelfth on the way!); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Loretta Haxel, and many brothers- and sisters-in-law. We wish to particularly thank his nurse and friend, Nancy Johnson, his "families" at River Bluff and Northgate Health Club, and the many, many people who proudly call Rudy their friend.
