Ruben Nayback

Ruben Nayback, 92 of Rochester, MN died Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Samaritan Bethany. Ruben was born in Rudyard, MI to Gust and Fanny (Valia) Nayback. He was the 7th of 12 children. Ruben enlisted in the US Navy at 18 years old, serving 2 years. He then attended Suomi College where he met Grace Ekola, who would be his wife for 61 years. They had 3 children. He started working as an Industrial Salesman and retired in 1992. After Grace's death in 2012, Ruben moved to Shorewood Senior Communities in Rochester, MN to be closer to his daughter, Laurie. Ruben loved golfing, dancing, and traveling. He was a proud Finlander. He loved to talk with everyone he met, and was quick-witted. His smile would brighten anyone's day. Ruben is preceded in death by his parents, 9 brothers and 1 sister, his wife, Grace, his daughter, Jill Marie and son, Mark Ruben. He is survived by his sister, Bernice, brother, Carl and his daughter, Laurie, grandson, Jon (Lamphere) and step-grandchildren, Josh, Justin and Annie Lamphere. A memorial service will be held at R Galer Funeral Home in Pickford, Michigan on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 1pm.
