Royal Happel

Royal C. Happel, 86, received his crown of glory on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at St. Marys Hospital. Royal Charles Happel was born November 7, 1927 in Houston, MN to Rudolph and Myrtle (Anderson) Happel. He graduated from Houston High School and served in the US Navy during WWII. Royal owned and operated Royal's Cafe in Houston, MN. He married Joanne Lee on December 27, 1953 at Oak Ridge Church in Houston, MN. Royal worked for the Minnesota Highway Department for 32 years and had been enjoying his retirement since 1989. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and attending church. Royal is survived by his son Doug (Laurie) Happel, Rochester, MN; his two grandsons Brian and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joanne and one sister. A Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Rochester, MN. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Grandview Memorial Gardens with military honors.
